“No-one should be performing cosmetic treatments if they do not have the knowledge, skills and resources to immediately deal with a complication”
— ACE (Aesthetic Complications Expert) Group
The rapid growth of aesthetic medicine has brought about remarkable opportunities for enhancing patient confidence and well-being. Yet, as procedures become more common, so too do the complications—many of which remain poorly understood, underreported, or mismanaged. Despite their medical nature, these complications often fall outside the scope of traditional medical training, leaving both aesthetic practitioners and frontline physicians unprepared to respond effectively.
This book was born out of that critical gap.
Dr. Aida Owlia completed medical school and residency at the University of Ottawa, further completing her specialized training in Emergency Medicine at Queen’s University. She subsequently fulfilled her Aesthetic Medicine training with the Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine, from where she has earned various certifications including those in advanced filler and neuromodulators as well as her board certification.
Dr. Owlia’s extensive training nationally and internationally has allowed her to carefully vet the industry’s most advanced technologies and practises and thoughtfully craft her own unique approach for her patients with the highest safety profile.
